Building Control Alliance updates the building control mediation scheme
24th August 2009
The Procedural Issues Mediation Scheme for building control has been updated by the Building Control Alliance (BCA).
The mediation scheme is a voluntary, common sense procedure that helps to resolve many of the disputes between building control professionals.
As is always the way, legal and technical opinion can differ in certain cases. Currently the only path to resolve these differences in opinion between Approved Inspectors and local councils on Building Regulations issues is through a formal approach to the courts. This route can be very expensive for everyone, and it flies in the face of the prime desire by the building control industry to deliver an efficient and unbureaucractic service.
Working closely with colleagues at LABC, the ACAI has supported the initiative by the Building Control Alliance to update the mediation scheme first issued in 2004.
A copy of the mediation scheme documents can be found in the Members' Area of this website.
