Report issued on quality and workmanship of new housing in England

1 August 2016

The Government is committed to building 200,00 new homes a year with over one million to be built by 2020 and there is a natural desire that new homes be built to a high standard.

In late 2015, the All Party Parliamentary Group for Excellence in the Built Environment (APPGEBE) commenced an open enquiry into the quality of new homes for sale in England. Evidence was gathered from housebuilders, consumer groups, insurance companies and homebuyers. The enquiry came about following MP`s being approached by their constituents frustrated by quality problems in their new homes.
